Miscellaneous Charges

The Minimum Charge
To recover at least the fixed consumer related cost in case the consumer does not use any units or only a very small amount in any particular month, a Minimum Charge will be levied as follows:-

  1. For Domestic Consumers - RM 5.00 per month
  2. For Non-domestic Consumers - RM 15.00 per month
  3. For Consumers Taking Above 500 kW - RM 1,000.00 per month

Temporary Load Charge
Customer who apply for temporary supply shall be charged at the tariff rate appropriate to their category plus a thirty-three percent (33%) surcharge on the total monthly bill. The supply agreement for the temporary load shall be time restricted and the customers shall be subjected to the appropriate connection charges.

Medium/High Voltage Metering
For supplies given at medium/high voltage, i.e. at 6.6KV and above, SESB will meter the energy consumption at medium/high voltage and the total bill shall be reduced by 2%.

Connected Load Charge
A customer will be required to pay a connected Load Charge when taking supply at Medium/High Voltage. However, this load charge will only come into effect if the actual Maximum Demand (MD) is below 75% of the declared MD.
The chargeable MD is calculated as the shortfall between 75% of the declared MD and the actual MD measured in any one month, for which the customer is charged RM4.00 for each KW of chargeable MD. No connected Load Charge is levied if the actual MD exceeds the 75% declared MD.

Power Factor Penalty
The customer shall use his best endeavours to obtain the highest Power Factor possible in operating any of his electrical installations. The consumer must achieve a minimum Power Factor, which is currently set at 0.90 for high voltage cunsumers and 0.85 for other cunsumers. A penalty shall be imposed if this minimum power factor is not achieved. This penalty is calculated as follows:-

  1. Below 0.85 (0.90) and up to 0.75 (0.80) lagging, a supplementary charge of 1.5% of the bill for that month for each one-hundredth part (0.01) below 0.85 (0.90) and up to 0.75 (0.80) lagging Power Factor will be added to the bill for that month; and
  2. Below 0.75 (0.80) lagging, in addition of the charge payable under sub-paragraph (a) above, a supplementary charge of 3% of the bill for that month for each one-hundredth part (0.01) below 0.75 (0.80) lagging Power Factor will be added to the bill for that month.

Meter Rental Charge
Rental charge for a single-phase meter is RM0.50 per month whilst for a three phase meter it will be RM1.00 per month.

Surcharge
Accounts, which are outstanding after the due date will carry a surcharge of 1% per month, calculated on a straight-line principle.
