Why are customers still charged GST after the Government announced the abolishment of GST effective 1 June 2018?

GST will be calculated at 0% effective 1 June 2018. Electricity consumption before 1 June 2018 will still be charged GST of 6%. Calculation of GST will be pro-rated.

EXAMPLE:
Bill Dated: 22 Jun 2018
Bill Duration: 20 May 2018 to 22 June 2018 (33 days)
Total Consumption = 1,001 kWh
Total Days for GST 6% = 20 May 2018 - 31 May 2018 (11 days)
Total Units for May = 333kWh
GST Units (Consumption for Block 4 & 5 only) = 223 kWh
Total Days for GST 0% = 01 June 2018 - 22 June 2018 (22 days)
Balance Units = 778kWh
GST 6% Amount = RM97.31 x 6% = RM5.84
 
 
* For Domestic Tariff, no GST charges imposed for the first 300kWh

Why is the GST line item still shown on the electricity bill?

The GST line item shows the amount of GST charged. Prior to 1 June 2018, GST rate is at 6%. Starting 1 June 2018, GST rate will be at 0%.

Why have SESB customers not received any notifications with regards to GST?

Notifications on this matter has been announced through the various channels below:
