Meter Reading

Estimated bill will be issued when meter reading cannot be carried out by meter reader. Electricity Regulations 1994, 2003 Amendments [item 4(4)] permit a licensee (SESB) to provide estimates bill to consumers in the following situations: -

a) Locked fence
b) Locked doors
c) The owner of the premises or it's agent does not give permission to enter
d) Obstructed meter from ordinary sight
e) The premise is guarded by a fierce and non-chain dog
f) The mirror of the meter is not clean, unclear or blurry due to user act
g) Incidents are beyond the control of licenses such as natural disasters, road premises are restricted in the event of riots, commotion and strike or,
h) Any other conditions that endanger the safety of the licensee.

 

To avoid Estimated Bill

In order to avoid SESB consumer to receive continuous estimated bill for every month. An “Estimated Bill Sticker” is used as a method to monitor the estimated bill issued by the meter reader.

A Yellow colours “Estimated Bill Sticker” are used to inform SESB consumer that receives two (2) consecutive months of estimated bill and it is patched together in front of the bill.

A Red colours “Estimated Bill Sticker” are used to inform SESB consumer that receives three (3) consecutive months of estimated bill and it is patched together in front of the bill. The purpose of the sticker is to inform SESB consumer to provide normal readings to SESB by contacting SESB Careline 15454.

 

The use of Empty Premise Sticker

Empty Premise Sticker” is used for continuous estimated bill due to empty premises or no occupants and actual reading cannot be obtained. The empty premise sticker is an Orange colour and is patched together behind the bill. The details of the "Empty Premise Sticker as follows: -
a) Alert status of premises
b) Meter Number
c) Last normal reading
