Introduction of Special Tariff
To promote energy efficiency and demand side management
Off Peak Tariff Rider (OPTR) and Sunday Tariff Rider (STR) for medium voltage consumers (CM2, ID2), and low voltage consumers (CM1, ID1) who qualify will get a cheaper rate during off peak period, or exempted from maximum demand charge during Sunday. more attractive peak/off peak tariffs compared to flat rate tariffs
A. Off Peak Tariff Rider (OPTR)
The Off Peak Tariff Rider (OPTR) scheme is offered to all medium voltage commercial and industrial consumers who are currently not enjoying any off-peak usage tariff rates.
These are:
- Medium Voltage General Commercial Tariff CM2
- Medium Voltage General Industrial Tariff ID2
- Low Voltage Commercial and Industrial Tariff (CMI & ID1) for CT operated meters 3 x 150/5A and above
Consumers enrolled in the OPTR scheme will enjoy a 20% discount on electricity usage during off-peak hours (10.00 p.m. to 8.00 a.m.) every day.
Eligibility
- An existing SESB customer under the CM2, D2, CM1 or ID1 tariff, not enjoying any off peak tariff rate & CT operated 150/5A and above.
- Receiving electricity supply from SESB for at least one (1) month.
- Latest Load Factor is higher than the average Load Factor over six (6) months prior to customer application OR average Load Factor over six (6) months prior to customer application is 0.8 or more.
- Do not have an outstanding amount not more than the total deposit/bank guarantee paid. Otherwise this outstanding amount must be settled before applying
Additional Requirements
- To enjoy the OPTR scheme, electromechanical meter must be replaced with an electronic meter. Customer will not be charged a fee for this meter replacement.
- If customer already using electronic meter, the meter will only need to be re-configured without charge.
- Customer will need to sign a supplementary supply contract.
Please note that customer are not required to enrol in this scheme; customer reserve the right to remain with their existing tariff rates should it prove more beneficial to them and their business.
B. Sunday Tariff Rider (STR)
The Sunday Tariff Rider (STR) scheme is offered to all medium voltage Industrial and Commercial consumers.
These are:
- Medium Voltage General Industrial Tariff ID2
- Medium Voltage Peak/Off-Peak Industrial Tariff ID3
- Medium Voltage General Industrial Tariff CM2
- Medium Voltage Peak/Off-Peak Industrial Tariff CM3
Consumers enrolled in the STR scheme will still pay the same rates on electricity usage as their current tariff; however Maximum Demand charges are not applied to any electricity usage on Sundays.
Eligibility
- Existing SESB customer under the CM2, D2, CM3 or ID3 tariff.
- No outstanding amount not more than the total deposit/bank guarantee paid. Otherwise this outstanding amount must be settled before your application can be considered.
